On the brink of Albert Pujols winning his third National League Most Valuable Player award, Cardinal Nation is fixated on trophies recognizing their players’ accomplishments. The 2009 roster is littered with eligible candidates in multiple categories, but along with all the accolades and impressive performances of the cream of the Cardinal crop, there is the sooty, briney residue that resides at the bottom of the barrel. Not all of this year’s Redbirds had seasons to write home about, so InsideSTL has created a series of awards showcasing the worst Cardinal performers of the 2009 season.
