Ex-Cardinals Watch 9-9-09: Terry Evans, Chris Lambert, Chris Richard, & Mike McCoy All Called Up; Jorge Sosa DFA'd; Josh Pressley Hits D.L.

Terry Evans (Angels):
The Angels' clubhouse got a little more crowded on Tuesday with the arrival of five new players, bringing to 35 the active roster at the command of manager Mike Scioscia.

Brett Tomko (Athletics):
Backed by seven runs in the first two innings, A's starter Brett Tomko picked up the victory to improve to 4-3. Tomko, who allowed three runs on six hits in 5 1/3 innings, has thrown six innings only once in his five starts with the A's, but he is still 3-1 in that span.

Ronnie Belliard (Dodgers):
Ronnie Belliard, filling in for third baseman Casey Blake and his injured hamstring, then hit a chopper to the right of reliever Esmerling Vasquez, who slipped when he tried to change direction to get the ball as Ethier scored the go-ahead run on a 50-foot single.

Jorge Sosa (Free Agent):
The Nationals designated right-hander Jorge Sosa for assignment on Tuesday. The news comes after Washington promoted pitchers Ross Detwiler, Marco Estrada, Logan Kensing and Zack Segovia, and shortstop Ian Desmond to the big leagues

Chris Lambert (Orioles):
With their Minor League seasons over, the Orioles called up several players Tuesday to join the club in Boston.

Chris Richard (Rays):
Chris Richard was selected from Triple-A Durham to fill some big shoes after Rays first baseman Carlos Pena was placed on the disabled list on Monday afternoon with two fractured fingers.

Mike McCoy (Rockies):
With Double-A Tulsa and Triple-A Colorado Springs having fallen short in their bids for the playoffs, the Rockies called up outfielder Matt Murton, shortstop Mike McCoy and right-handed pitchers Jhoulys Chacin and Matt Belisle to the active roster on Tuesday.

Jason Marquis (Rockies):
Marquis struck out a season-high seven in 7 1/3 innings for his career-high-tying 15th victory, a 3-1 triumph over the Reds on Tuesday night. The National League Wild Card-leading Rockies are 19 games above .500 for the first time in their 17-season history.
