Kyle Lohse could be sent out for a rehab assignment start sometime early next week, manager Tony La Russa said this afternoon, and Todd Wellemeyer, arm allowing, could follow. Lohse recovered well from his bullpen session Thursday and the only thing keeping him on the 15-day disabled list is the fact that he has to be on it for 15 days. Lohse’s groin injury has cleared and he’ll get a minor-league start to refine his conditioning before rejoining the rotation when eligible in early September.
