Boer-Managua beat Masaya 2-1: Post Game and La Prensa

Alvaro Lopez started and pitched seven strong innings, picking up his ninth (9-3) win of the season.

Former DSL Cardianls Edgard Montiel and Walter Santos are listed on the Boer roster.

Boer (11-7) takes on Mayasa (7-11) for a doubleheader on Sunday, June 7. Boer is only one game out in the league.

Seventh Nicarguan Signs Deal With Major League Organization


The Chicago Cubs have signed left-handed pitcher Denis Estrada to a deal. The 19-year old becomes the seventh player to be signed in the past year out of Nicaragua. Jem Argenal and Johnny Polanco were signed by the St. Louis Cardinals, Elmer Reyes was picked up by the Atlanta Braves, the Seattle Mariners signed Jose Valdivia and Oscar Bravo, and The San Diego Padres got the signature of Uber Paz. Estrada played with both Argenal and Reyes the past couple years on the Boer-Managua affiliated teams. He was 1-0 with a 7.97 ERA allowing 42 hits (including seven doubles and two triples), 21 runs (18 earned), eight walks, and struck out eight over 20.1 innings during the 2009 Nicaraguan National Championship.
