1.) Brownswood (Texas) HS right-hander Shelby Miller falls to the Cardinals at No. 19: St. Louis had to be ecstatic when the fireballing Miller fell in their laps. All signs and information pointed to him going to Texas at No. 14, but they passed when fellow Texas prepster Matthew Purke was still available. Miller probably was my favorite high schooler besides Mike Trout and Matzek just on pure ability alone. What a bargain--a power arm like that available in the latter half of the first round.
