Former Boston Globe writer Larry Tye puts together an autobiography on the famous Negro Leagues pitcher that should give anybody a better look at the man who had a very long and successful career in baseball. Paige had spectacular stats and even attracted fans and later scouts to the league, particularly to Jackie Robinson.
He pitched for the Kansas City Monarchs of the Negro Leagues and later went on to toss in the World Series for the Cleveland Indians. Satchel Paige rounded out his MLB career with the St. Louis Browns (now Baltimore Orioles) and Kansas City Athletics (now Oakland Athletics).
It is currently on the New York Times' Best Seller List.
