Brodin, an all-conference first baseman for the College of Charleston and a North Thurston grad, has talked with the Milwaukee Brewers and St. Louis Cardinals. He had a pre-draft tryout Saturday at Miller Park with the Brewers. Brodin got letters from 10 teams.
“I’m more excited than anxious,” Brodin said. “Whatever happens, happens. I never felt pressure. I never once thought about the draft. My dream was always to play Division I.”
Brodin batted .362 and was named second-team All-Southern Conference. He played two years at Green River Community College before jumping to Division I baseball.
“I hope someone gives him a chance,” Green River coach Matt Acker said. “I’d be surprised if someone doesn’t offer him something. He has all the tools.”
Brodin was driving back to Lacey from South Carolina on Monday and spent Tuesday night in Chicago.
“I just want to continue to play baseball,” Brodin said. “I think there’s a good possibility of going (today).”
