Rookie reliever Jason Motte of the St. Louis Cardinals had made it through the first two months of the season without allowing an inherited runner to score out of 12 runners who had been on base when he entered a game. In one fell swoop, Motte maxed out a trifecta in the seventh inning of Friday’s game. Three runners inherited, three runners scored as the Cardinals lost to Colorado. 11-4.
