Movin' On Up: Tyler Greene

Tyler Greene, SS, St. Louis Cardinals

CALLED UP: Recalled from Triple-A Memphis on April 30 when SS Brendan Ryan went on the DL.

DEBUT: April 30 in a 9-4 win against Washington. The starting shortstop, he batted eighth and went 1-for-5 with a single, an RBI, a stolen base and a run scored.

NOTES: Summoned from Memphis when the Cards found themselves down a pair of shortstops (Ryan on the DL and Khalil Greene sidelined with a forearm strain), the 2005 first-rounder was thrown right into the action and his bases-loaded infield single in the ninth helped cap a five-run rally. Though a shortstop for most of his pro career, he can also play second and third, which suits him perfectly for manager Tony LaRussa's four-man bench filled with versatile infielders.
