Matt Arburr: Activated & Makes 2009 Debut Sunday For Palm Beach

The Palm Beach Cardinals have activated first baseman Matt Arburr from the 7-day disabled list.

Arburr, 23, was a 17th round (532nd overall) pick by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2007 amateur draft. He was assigned to Single-A Short Season Johnson City in 2007 where he hit .207 with eight doubles, two triples, five home runs, and 20 RBIs in 44 games for the team. In 2008, the right-handed slugger was assigned to Single-A Quad Cites where he earned Co-Player of the Week in the Midwest League the last week on June and a couple days later was promoted to A-Advanced Palm Beach to fill a void. Between both affiliates he hit .228 with 13 doubles, 22 home runs, and 60 RBIs in 106 games.

The College of Charleston product had been sidelined all winter and spring with an Achilles injury. He made his 2009 debut Sunday going 0-for-4 with two strikeouts and assisted in two double plays in a 2-1 loss to Florida State League opponent Jupiter.

Look for the corresponding move to be made on Monday.
