The Midwest League has named Quad Cities River Bandits' starting pitcher Kevin Thomas their Pitcher of the Week for periods April 27-May 3.
Thomas, who is paired with Hector Cardenas in the tandem rotation, made one official start and one relief appearance. The 23-year old followed Cardenas on April 27, only allowing two hits, no runs, and struck out three over 3.1 innings for his first win of the 2009 season. And this past Saturday, the right-hander made his second start of the year going a season-high five innings and not giving up a single hit or run. He also struck out two and picked up his second win.
The Stephen F. Austin product had now put together two appearances during the 2009 season where he has not given up a hit (April 15 & May 2) and he has not allowed an earned run (one unearned run) at all during in his 2009 journey.
