Jeff Murphy, the bullpen catcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, said the closest he comes to affecting a game is occasionally giving feedback to a reliever.
"I've had some guys here over the years that, they leave the bullpen and they ask you, 'How's it look?'" Murphy said. "You have little things you can say to build them up and pump them up, but you're not going to tell them they're throwing 95 when they're throwing 88. You have to be honest with them."
