So as much as Bedard seems like a fit for the pitching-starved Phillies, remember Jake Peavy, Brandon Webb and Cliff Lee are out there and possibly available. While the St. Louis Cardinals – who found out Troy Glaus is done for the season and are using a platoon at third base – might like to have Beltre’s stellar defense, they may instead favor Mark DeRosa’s bat and versatility.
