Relief pitcher Julian Tavarez departed for the Dominican Republic today to pick up his work visa, opening the door for him to participate in exhibition games. Since signing with the Nationals on March 13, Tavarez, using a tourist visa, has been barred from anything but minor league participation and intrasquad games. He is expected to rejoin the team on Friday.
