Joe Strauss Visits With Bernie Miklasz On 1380 AM (Thursday Tidbits)

  • Dennys Reyes fits the left handed specialist role, doesn't pitch a lot of innings, not a whole lot of walks, good command. Bad in odd years.
  • Bad day for Charlie Manning, Royce Ring, and Ian Ostlund.
  • Rehashing Ricardo Rincon memories - Reyes.
  • Skip Schumaker came out of the game and took more grounders from the pitching machine.
  • Tony LaRussa awarded Joe Mather third base before the game.
  • David Freese most likely out another week, Brett Wallace was minor league bound before camp.
  • Mather is an athletic guy and has the tools to handle the hot corner.
  • Situation not handled very well with Freese injury, club found out late.
  • LaRussa approached Colby Rasmus before the game about his hitting, trying to hard to knock the ball out of the park.
  • Rasmus looked comfortable at the plate and looked good in the outfield.
  • Chris Perez still working on slider.
  • Jason Motte looking better than Perez, Ryan Franklin looking better than all. Franklin could be headed to the closer role.
  • Todd Wellemeyer pitched real well especially against a tough D.R. lineup.
  • Albert Pujols explanation on not playing.
