Chris Perez vs. Jason Motte vs. Ryan Franklin
Chris Perez was supposed to be the closer of the future. He went 6-6 in save opportunities before being removed from the role because of his age. It's about time the Cardinals start treating him the way Washington treated Chad Cordero.
Jason Motte is a relatively unknown commodity, but struck out 16 batters in 11 innings last year and even picked up a save. His ERA and WHIP were both under 1.00 and his fastball can reach upwards of 98MPH. He's a darkhorse here.
Ryan Franklin blew eight saves last year, which was second to teammate Jason Isringhausen. His numbers were far from impressive and he was one of the reasons why St. Louis fell short of the playoffs.
