St. Louis Cardinals starter Chris Carpenter grew weary of giving constant updates on his health, oh, about seven years ago. But in a lengthy chat with reporters after his two innings of work at Roger Dean Stadium today, Carpenter talked about his changeup, talked about the command of his fastball and raved about the improving defense of Skip Schumaker at second base. He talked about facing a lineup loaded with eight lefthanded hitters and pitching through runners on base and extra outs.
