Cardinals Winter League Notebook 2-6-09

*Nicaraguan National Championship*

Former DSL Cardinals Walter Santos and Edgard Montiel play for Boer-Managua.
Boer (1-2) takes on Boaco (0-3) Friday, February 6.

*Caribbean Series*

Amaury Marti (Memphis): Started in left field and batted 7th. 0-for-4 with one strikeout (swinging) and grounded into one double play.
D'Angelo Jimenez (Memphis-free agent): Did not play for Licey.
Ex-Cardinal Ronnie Belliard doubled for Licey.
Former Memphis Redbird Nerio Rodriguez started for Licey and pitched five innings allowing eight hits, three runs, one walk, and striking out six for the loss.

Jose Rada (GCL): Did not pitch for Aragua.
Aragua scored three in the third inning and held off Licey for a 3-2 victory: Boxscore
Licey has been eliminated from the title (mention of Marti at the bottom): Post Game

Former Memphis Redbird Edgar Gonzalez went 4-for-6 with one double, one triple, one RBI, and one run for Mazatlan.
Ex-Cardinal Bill Pulispher started for Ponce and pitched 6.1 innings allowing six hits, one run, one walk, and struck out seven.
Mazatlan scored four in the 12th to beat Ponce 5-1: Boxscore
Ponce was also eliminated with the Aragua win over Licey.

Friday's games:
Ponce (0-4) visits Licey (1-3) @ 5:00pm EST.
Aragua (4-0) visits Mazatlan (3-1) @ 9:00pm EST.
