Cardinals Winter League Notebook 1-8-09

*Mexican Pacific League*

Former Cardinal affiliated players that played for Obregon:

Hugo Castellanos (Memphis-free agent) made 36 appearances (one start) posting a 1-3 record, 4.50 ERA, one save, and 12 holds. He allowed 35 hits, 19 runs (18 earned), one home run, hit five batters, walked 18, and struck out 25 over 36 innings.
Josh Pressley batted .286 with one home run, four RBIs, nine total bases, five runs, four walks, four strikeouts, .400 OBP, .429 SLG, and .829 OPS in five games.
Iker Franco batted .282 with seven doubles, 14 home runs, 36 RBIs, 97 total bases, 24 runs, seven walks, 34 strikeouts, .315 OBP, .571 SLG, and .885 OPS in 49 games.
Reggie Taylor batted .249 with six doubles, three triples, 12 home runs, 32 RBIs, 104 total bases, 35 runs, 13 walks, 39 strikeouts, two stolen bases, .298 OPB, .462 SLG, and .760 OPS in 55 games. Taylor began in the season with Culiacan before coming to Obregon.
Dan Serafini made nine appearances (eight starts) posting a 1-2 record and 5.02 ERA. He allowed 47 hits, 25 runs (24 earned), seven home runs, hit two batters, walked 15, and strukc out 27 over 43 innings.
Andy Cavazos made 15 appearances (one start) posting a 1-2 record, 6.57 ERA, one save, and one hold. He allowed 12 hits, 11 runs (nine earned), one home run, hit one batter, walked 14, and struck out eight over12.1 innings.

Former Springfield Cardinal Juan Richardson still has not connected for a hit, for La Guaira, sinc getting into the playoffs.

Ex-Cardinals Hector Luna and Alberto Castillo combined going 0-for-6, striking out all six times for Aguilas.
Azucareros scored three in the first and sliiped past Aguilas 4-3: Boxscore

Amaury Marti (Memphis): Struck out swingng in his only plate appearance as a pinch hitter in the sixth.
D'Angelo Jimenez (Memphis-free agent): Started as designated hitter and batted 9th. 0-for-4 with one strikeout (swinging)

Ex-Cardinal Ray King picked up his second hold of the playoffs, for Gigantes, striking out two and giving up two hits.
