The A's had a casual conversation with Mark Mulder's agent, Gregg Clifton, but that's only a vague possibility. If Mulder were to be a consideration at all, it would have be a nonguaranteed deal, because the former Oakland starter has missed the better part of three seasons with shoulder trouble.
