Today In Baseball History: December 20th

1929 - Minor Leaguer Joe Medwick insists teammates call him "Ducky." They thought it was kind of weird, but the "crazy eyes" convinced them to comply. What do you know? The name stuck.

1980 - The Brewers obtain future Cy Young winners Rollie Fingers [1981] and Pete Vuckovich [1982] in a deal with the Cardinals sending pitcher Lary Sorensen, outfielder Sixto Lezcano and minor league players Dave Green and Dave LaPointe to St. Louis. I've heard of two of those players, so I'm giving this win to the Brewers. Sixto Lezcano would later appear as the undertaker in "The Godfather on Ice".
