Braves In Search Of Starters, Power

Jason Marquis(Cubs):

Dempster Baffled By Lack Of Control

Joe Torre(Dodgers):
The Cubs' 0-1 deficit may not look quite as daunting in light of the record of the manager they're facing - Joe Torre. Winning Game 1 has not historically been good news for Torre since the Yankees won their last World Series title in 2000. Three times in the past six postseasons, Torre's Yankees won Game 1 of a Division Series but went on to lose. And you have to go all the way back to the 1999 sweep of the Rangers to find a Division Series in which Torre won Game 1 and went on to win the series.
NLDS Game 1 Tidbits

Fernando Tatis, Ricardo Rincon, & Marlon Anderson(Mets):
Tatis & Rincon: Free Agents.
Mets Must Rebuild Rotation In Offseason

Troy Percival(Rays):
Manager Joe Maddon announced Wednesday that he will go with 10 pitchers on his postseason roster, and though he hasn't announced the composition of his roster, it appears that Troy Percival might be out of the mix.
Percival Could Be Out Of Mix In Bullpen

J.D. Drew & Mike Timlin(RedSox):
The Red Sox have set their initial roster for the first round of the playoffs and there are no real surprises. The Sox are carrying 10 pitchers and 15 positional players; Mike Timlin is off and third catcher David Ross is on. Mike Lowell and J.D. Drew are both expected to be in the starting lineup tonight for Game 1 of the American League Division Series against the Los Angeles Angels.
Sox Roster Set

Jim Leyland(Tigers):
Jim Leyland won't just be managing the Tigers for a rebound season and postseason berth next year. He will apparently be managing for another contract.
Leyland's Contract Status Unchanged

Sidney Ponson(Yankees):
Non-Tender Possibility.
