Instead, Pujols had an operation to move the ulnar nerve in that elbow, a procedure that should ease the discomfort Pujols was feeling at the end of the 2008 season.

Pujols had surgery to decompress and relocate the ulnar nerve in his right elbow, a joint that has given him problems since he strained a ligament there early in 2003.
