Sigh! No 'Cy' From A Winner?

The accepted difference between the Most Valuable Player and the Cy Young Award, both voted on at the end of the season by writers in each city in their respective league, is that the former almost always comes from a winning team and that the latter doesn't have to. Yet, only 12 of the previous 94 Cy Young Award winners have come from teams that finished under .500.
