As late as Aug. 28, after a home victory over the Brewers, the Cardinals were 14 games over .500. The injuries have piled up with the losses since then, but manager Tony La Russa sees the final homestand of 2008 as a chance to produce an overall record more reflective of the way St. Louis played for most of the season.
