Not sure what this says about the National League, but one of its All-Stars, Cardinals outfielder Ryan Ludwick, was released twice in 2005 and 2006, and another, Florida Marlins second baseman Dan Uggla, was a Rule 5 scrapheap pickup in 2005. In the 30-year-old Ludwick's case, injuries forced the Rangers, A's, Indians and Tigers to all give up on him, and he has titanium rods in both his wrist and his hip as testimony to his hard knocks early career.
