Mid-Season Awards: Most Surprising Teams

NL: St. Louis. The Cardinals weren’t supposed to have any pitching and not much of an outfield. Shows the genius of pitching coach Dave Duncan in patching together the league’s “most unlikely for success” starting rotation. Couple this with the so far lost season of Jason Isringhausen and shake your head some more. The Cardinals have given a bunch of bench players every day playing time and come up with one of the best outfields in the league. I will give honorable mention to Florida, but with that defense it’s been more luck than anything else.
