Ex-Cardinals Watch 7-23-08: Kline Retires, Edmonds Hurting Again, Ardoin Knows Coors Field, Gonzlez Earns Day Off

Steve Kline(Retired):
Pitching coach Steve Kline? That is what the former reliever wants to do and said he would love to work for the Giants. The team might be interested in hiring him as an instructor.

Kline, who turns 36 next month, has not officially retired but said Wednesday, "I'm done." He pitched for the Giants in 2006 and 2007, was released at the end of spring training and signed a Triple-A contract with the Phillies. He struggled at Lehigh Valley, Pa., and was released after a blowup with an umpire.

Jim Edmonds(Cubs):
Center fielder Jim Edmonds, who left Tuesday's game with pain in his surgically repaired left knee, is scheduled to have a precautionary MRI in Chicago today to make sure nothing is seriously wrong.

Danny Ardoin(Dodgers):
There is a mental approach to pitching in Coors Field that most visiting pitchers just don't get.

Edgar Gonzalez(Padres):
