Busted Bats Abound, Skip Schumaker Sliding Into 1st, Mark McGwire's Sons Visit, Eddie Dyer TX League Hall Of Fame

On the first day Major League Baseball began collecting all the evidence from its epidemic of shattering bats, the Cardinals and New York Mets eagerly provided a bushel of wooden shards. Ten bats broke in Wednesday's game. All three of the Cardinals' bats that broke and all but one of the Mets' bats were maple.
