Blue Jays Make The Pitch To Fly Higher

Third baseman Scott Rolen has something to prove after shoulder injuries have curtailed him the past few seasons. Rolen hit just .265 with eight homers and 58 RBIs for the Cardinals last year. His once- pristine reputation has also taken a hit, as run-ins with his last two managers -- Tony La Russa in St. Louis and Larry Bowa in Philadelphia -- have cast him in a suspect ing light.

David Eckstein takes over at short for the light-hitting but slick fielding John McDonald (.251/.279/ .333, one homer, 31 RBIs), who moves into the utility-infielder role. Eckstein had a decent offensive season (.309/.356/.382) last year in St. Louis and is still a good table- setter at the top of the lineup, but he made a career-high 20 errors in 2007 and has lost some range in the field.
