Gordo Live Feb. 4, 2008

jrocke217: hey gordo
i hear kris benson is gonna have another workout. are the cardinals gonna have scout on hand? i think he would be a nice pick up, i'm hearing he may have dropped down to a minor league deal. with our starting rotation looking a little shaky right now we could possibly use him whether it be at memphis or a mid to late season call up if he's healthy.

Jeff Gordon: I've always supported the idea of adding Benson to the pile. I get the feeling Mo doesn't share my enthusiasm.

------------------------------------------------------------
jrocke217: i've heard that the cardinals may be thinking about offering kyle lohse a 1 year deal. heave you heard any word on this? i see him as kip wells revisited if he were to come to st. louis. could provide an arm in the rotation & eat innings. but then again he's a boras client & the cards don't fair to well with him(weaver).

Jeff Gordon: Interesting, the Mets could still land this guy -- even after spending all the money in the world on Santana. It would be hard to imagine Lohse gambling on a one-year deal, but Boras talked Weaver into such a gambit. Kyle was looking for Carlos Silva money, so this would be quite a comedown.

-------------------------------------------------------------
jrocke217: last question & nothing about juan gone either.but what do you think about hugo castellanos & his chances of maybe hitting the big leagues this season? i been keeping a close eye on him in winter league & he has been very impressive. i think out of all the spring invites, castellanos, rasmus, flores, politte, jimenez, brazelton & possibly boggs & perez have the greatest chance of coming up this season.

Jeff Gordon: It's tough to translate those numbers. Let's see what he does in the spring. He is on the very edge of the radar screen right now.

jrocke217 says: i know i probably got the ball rolling on the whole jeff weaver topic, but i think it is pretty much a dead subject to keep asking every week. he's not returning anytime soon. thanks again gordo.
