jrocke217: hey gordo
do you see mitch boggs, dewon brazelton, jaime garcia, clayton mortensen, adam ottavino, & p.j. walters getting some time this spring as starters or will they be used out of the bullpen? starters with a minimum of innings or letting them loose to pitch some innings?thanks
Jeff Gordon: Boggs and Garcia could earn looks as starters, but remember how spring training works -- starters won't really be starters until late in the spring schedule. By then, most of the young guys will be long gone.

jrocke217: so what did you think of our boys in the caribbean series? jose martinez finally got some starting time, but didn't really shine til the 5th game. hugo castellanos kinda crumbled in the final game. d'angelo jimenez only got 1 start.
Jeff Gordon: Martinez caught the Cards' eyes this spring. He is worth watching. D'Angelo is what he is, a talented underachiever. He has to beat out scrappy players and impress a manager big on work ethic. Longshot!

jrocke217: is it safe to say thank goodness we didn't sign curt schilling? lol. i already knew he wasn't coming to st. louis, but just imagine the world of hurt the cards would be in if this guy came here? carp, mulder, schilling riding the bench. we probably would of never made a move for clement if schill was signed either. we would probably be making calls to over pay for pitchers such as benson, lohse, weaver, hernandez, or maybe even colon right now.
Jeff Gordon: Not a shock with Curt, given all the mileage on him. Colon would be a similar risk. I wouldn't mind Benson, but he is in the same category as Mulder and Carpenter -- coming back at some point during the season.
