Even if the Cubs did cut Marquis, I can't see a scenario where he would make it back into the Cardinals' fold. Don't forget, he was left off the post-season roster in 2006 and was badmouthed in the press by pitching coach Dave Duncan.
If you couldn't crack the Cardinals' top five over the last three years, you're not very well thought of...
There has been an increasing sentiment for bringing back Jeff Weaver, while we're talking about Cardinal retreads. But I have heard that bridge was burned, pulverized and that the bits were placed in rocket to the sun, no matter if he would pitch here for the major league minimum.
