Mike Aldrete Joins Tony LaRussa's Coaching Staff

It came out of left field.

A phone call from St. Louis Cardinals manager Tony La Russa.

Mike Aldrete's old manager didn't call to wish him happy holidays.

"He said he was looking for a coach,'' said Aldrete, a Monterey High grad. "He told me to just think about it over the holidays and he'd get back with me. I was floored. It came out of the blue.''
