Former Colorado Rockies slugger Larry Walker used Mark David's Sugar Plums & Fancy to put up a 200,000-light Christmas display at his Royal Palm Beach home, and so did Boca publishing heir Paul Pope, for about 100,000 blinking lights. The company is riding a new fad: hiring a Christmas consultant. "Who wants to spend the day putting up decorations, then take them down?" David asks. Pope's house also has a 35-foot Christmas tree modeled after the Tavern on the Green tree in Manhattan. In the '70s, Pope's dad, Generoso, founder of the National Enquirer, had tourists from as far away as Alabama come for his Lantana display. Problem is: Paul's house is in a gated community .
