Cardinals manager Tony La Russa has never been reluctant to try something out of the ordinary, even if he knows he'll draw criticism for his actions.

How soon this "Greatest baseball town" forgets what McGwire did for the Cardinals and for baseball. He saved baseball! Got fans in the seats, not just in STL. Thank you Big Mac, for not leaving the game forever and fading away into nothing like all these critics "baseball fans" want. We still love you here, I have not forgotten, and never will. We welcome you back with open arms and hope you are here for many years to come. Thank you! I only hope that things are cleared up, one day, so that you may be allowed into the HOF. We love you in St. Louis, welcome back!

sorry to get this posted sooo late. been really busy.

the whole attack on the steroids in baseball was a political thing. i think it was mccain who got the ball rolling on it in the early 90s to get him some brownie points with voters. of course the media joined in and won't let it go. very sad what are country has come to.

steroids are plain out wrong period! but then again they were not illegal in baseball at the time he was supposably doing them or anyone else for that matter. why crucify the players when it was not illegal at the time? media thank you for trying to ruin some good things in life.

mcgwire was my childhood favorite player all the way up until he retired. i had lost interest in baseball after the 94 strike but mcgwire, sosa, bonds, and all the others resurrected my passion for the game and i gradually started following again in the late 90s.

i think guys like mcqwire, sosa, bonds, clemens, palmeiro, and all the others should be let into the hall just for what they did in bringing fans back to the game and turning this business into a multi-billion dollar enterprise. i can say the main reason selig is happy to see mcgwire back could be the fact his pockets were padded well but his business has gone world wide and attrached many people into the game.

mcgwire...we need no explanation of what you did or how you did it. we cards fans want you to help turn our players into great hitters....that's all. make us a winning team. welcome back and best of luck to you and ignore the media and negative fans.
